TOAST COETZER
Biography
No, it's not his real name
Toast Coetzer writes in Afrikaans en in Engels wanneer hy uitgerus is. His writing and photos have been publised in all sorts of South African magazines, newspapers, zines and websites. Most recently he's fancied himself a bit of a published writer of fiction, but don't be alarmed, his literary output can at best be called 'drupsgewys'. Still there's something in 'Urban One' (Spearhead 2001) and 'Nuwe Stemme 2' (Tafelberg 2001) to watch out for. He once wrote and self-publised a little self-help type book called 'Love Songs For The Government/ Liefdesliedjies Vir Die Regering', again, helpfully, in two languages. New projects still in the bullshit stage are: 'The Fucking Animal Kingdom', a book about the sexual habits of animals and 'Know Your Shit', a book about all sorts of animal droppings. While he probably won't ever write these, you may email him on toast@journalist.com for a free electronic copy of his latest 'thing', a rather long piece about fishing, violence, dogs, cricket and the meaning of wife. He is also 'in a band', The Buckfever Underground, currently threatening playlists everywhere with their infectious brand of rock and rabies.
