The New Harvest is a good one

Cape of Good Dope CD Launch October 25 2002
Bloem Street Studios, Cape Town
African Dope Records

"Cape of Good Dope" is the fresh harvest from African Dope Records. In true Dope style it is a mixture of in-your-face hip-hop, backbeat, trip hop, dance and dub tracks to get even the laziest of people onto the dance floor. And in even more true style the album was launched with a kick ass party that was loud, cutting edge and "like very Cape Town, bru".

Appearing live, among a think cloud of smoke ("it's like a theme party." said the guy rolling a joint next to me), were Constructus - featuring Waddy Jones (ex Max Normal front man with the very funky Wimbledon kit) and the fabulous Anika - telling stories to a Wormstorm beat. Sharing the stage were all girl hip-hop trio Godessa - and judging from crowd response (especially during their debut single "Social Ills") these girls are going to take the SA hip-hop scene to an all-new plateau.

Also wowing the crowd were Lions of Zion, Fletcher (Krushed and Sorted) and beat master Sibot - who demonstrated just why he is the 2002 DJ Battle of the Year champion.

"Cape of Good Dope" also boasts names like Sticky, Gray Blakk, Yang Weapon and Pug (16 years old!) as well as a remix of the hidden track on Felix Leband's latest CD. Funk masters Moodphase5ive also make an appearance.

October 25th's launch - was not only a launch for a compact disk - but, in my opinion, the launch for Cape Town's definitive soundtrack for summer 2002.
