TRAVEL FEATURES
Gamkaskloof - paradise or hell
It really is a great feeling when on a Friday afternoon, at 5 minutes to 5 o’clock, as you’re shutting down Windows on your computer, your colleague asks you what you’re doing for the weekend and you can say: Going to Hell. And mean it!
Sani Pass - the road to the highest pub in Africa
I did a mental check of what I had packed into my Land rover. A map of the Drakensburg, tick. Gloves and a fleece jacket, tick. Camera and loads of film, tick. One large bottle of Prohep, tick. Passport, tick. Essential items for a trip over the legendary Sani Pass, into Lesotho and into the highest pub in Africa.
Kathmandu Kaleidoscope
A walk through the streets of Kathmandu leaves one with two major problems. Firstly – complete sensory overload and secondly – the certainty of getting lost...
An Email Home
"Namaste" from Nepal! Roughly translated this greeting means "I salute the God within you" … but in practise, it means hello, and goodbye, and good day, and well … in my case, howzit.

SAM REINDER BIOGRAPHY
I am Sam, Sam I am
Sam lives in the shadow of Table Mountain in a house with a porta-pool on its roof. She's been to Outer Mongolia, has a dog named after a Bushman she once met and drives a car called Guacamole.
Along with 3 mates she met while drinking too much Tass in Grahamstown a few years back she runs a flipping cool company called BastardMedia. She's not lying - it really is cool. Check out their website for yourself: www.bastardmedia.co.za.
One day she wants to grow up to be a responsible adult - but she is in no huge rush.
Drop her a line on sam@bastardmedia.co.za

CD REVIEWS
Tell Someone Who Cares
The first time I listened to “Tell Someone Who Cares” I didn’t like it. At all. So I am glad I wasn’t listening to it on headphones in a CD shop – because I would have taken my R150 and bought something else. And what a mistake that would have been.
Zim Ngqawana
From the so-called "Zimology Institute" comes Zim Ngqawana's third solo offering - Vadzimu. And it is a really difficult one to review.
The Fra Fra Sound
The Fra Fra Sound are extremely tricky to label: Afro-Caribbean funk. Kindof. Add a touch of contagious Latin American soul, a drop of blues, the roll of the African drum beat and a big band jazz feel - and you have a cocktail that will undoubtedly intoxicate you in the best way possible.
FEATURES
Tropical storm creek
Last Saturday night 1.5 billion people watched the opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup on TV. 20000 people experienced it at Newlands. 1000 brave souls descended upon the Breede River to experience its banks thump to the sounds of some of South Africa's finest music.
“DON’T PANIC!” – Sugardrive are back.
As tight as ever, as raw as ever, as energetic as ever and as well loved by the fans as ever – Sugardrive are back. And back with a bang...
Jazz in the city of saints
In the city of Saints, among the people with peculiar hats, the hippies on donkey carts and the street children singing for their bread, lies a venue whose walls resounded with the most amazing music and the tremendous applause from the audiences who literally pushed and shoved to see their favorite musicians in action.
Soulja make an impact at Mercury Live
Providing an explosive start to the long weekend Soulja opened for New Porn at a packed out Mercury Live on Thursday evening.
Savage Garden live in South Africa @ Century City
There must be something in the fertilizer at Century City…. First of all a large atomic mushroom looking contraption erupts from the ground and shortly afterwards this futuristic structure goes bananas with a sound so awesome that my ear drums are still reverberating weeks afterwards from the sounds of screaming girls (and guys) that were literally fainting at the sight and sounds of the Aussie duo - Savage Garden.
