Publicity
August 2004-present
Worked for Hybrid Films coordinating the press campaign surrounding the release of 34 South in March 2005. Despite a minimal budget and a limited, three-screen independent cinema release in the Western Cape only, I have already placed thirteen feature articles in local magazines, and secured extensive coverage in the trade journals, most newspapers, and on radio, television and the Internet.
December 2004
Handled the publicity for One Voice, a benefit concert for quadriplegic actor Michael Evans, which secured television, newspaper and radio coverage.
April 2004-June 2004
Worked for Ma-Afrika Films as part of the team behind the massively successful press campaign surrounding the re-release of e’Lollipop at The Cannes Film Festival. I compiled the press database, edited, wrote and distributed press releases, handled press enquiries, arranged interviews, fact-checked articles and monitored coverage.

Screenplays

In script development with Dominic Wilhelm, the ex-General Manager of Ma-Afrika Films, on Presently Disadvantaged, a documentary feature film for theatrical distribution, about being white in The New South Africa.
Present
Finishing an unnamed feature about a hitman who has a spiritual experience and tries to escape the industry.
March 2001
Script-doctored Beyond the Road, a full-length feature, for Sunu Gonera of Faith Creations. This is a small-town romantic comedy.
May 2000
Finished Even Angels Fall, a full-length screenplay, optioned by Faith Creations in October 2001. An edgy teenage murder mystery.

Film Production
February 2005
Griffin Films (Vuyani Mzantsi) hired me to research and write a proposal for etv for a 26-episode, 24-minute documentary/magazine television series.
April 2004-June 2004
Personal assistant to Dominic Wilhelm, the General Manager Director of Ma-Afrika Films. I also worked closely with Andre Pieterse, CEO of Ma-Afrika Films and former Executive Vice President of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Amongst other things, I helped organize Ma-Afrika’s trip to The Cannes Film Festival and oversaw the film office while Andre and Dominic were overseas.
December 2000
Worked as a production assistant and VTO on I’ve Walked the Valley, a short film for Sunu Gonera of Faith Creations.

Video Editing
September 2003-present
Helped set up a digital editing studio, specializing in digital editing and DVD authoring. Have edited four wedding and seven promotional videos and DVDs. Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro.

Performance
April 2003
Co-lead in four television adverts for Vee’s Video shot by Page-to-Pictures. February 2003
Two voice-overs for Pointblank Productions and Media Village.
December 2002
Title role in Three Wise Men And A Lion’s Den, a musical by Pippa Duffy, a writer/director/actress for the Baxter for many years.
2000-2005
Have been an extra on the set of made-for-TV movies, sitcoms, short films and commercials.

Training
I have participated in the following workshops: The Writing Studio’s screenwriting course (2000), a sound master-class with award-winning American sound designer Albert Lord, of Twin Peaks and Law and Order fame (2004); a camera workshop with top steadycam operator Sarel Pretorius (2003); a directing workshop with Bruce MacDonald, Director/Executive Producer of Boomtown Productions (2003); an acting workshop with Rutger Hauer of Blade Runner fame (2004) and Colin Hall’s Learning to Lead course.
Film publicity has allowed me to work closely with producers and directors co-creating their release strategy, and to dialogue with actors regarding the pros and cons of the production process. Together with on-the-job training and observation, friendships with people in the industry and voracious reading habits, this has given me a broad understanding of most facets involved in filmmaking.
